In January 30, 2003, the UP Board of Regents approved the merging of the CAFS’s Farming Systems and Soil Resources Institute, Department of Agricultural Education and Rural Studies, and Department of Soil Science into the Agricultural Systems Cluster or ASC. The Institute is mandated to promote the integration and application of agricultural sciences and technologies in the management and support of agricultural systems. In 2016, the College of Agriculture was restructured into five (5) academic units and four (4) research units and was renamed as the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS). The Agricultural Systems Cluster (ASC) was also renamed as Agricultural Systems Institute (ASI)
