The Agricultural Systems Institute (ASI) of the College of Agriculture and Food Science in the University of the Philippines Los Banos draws its strength from the knowledge and expertise in farming systems, soil science, agricultural extension, rural studies and other agriculture-related disciplines.

ASI promotes public service by doing different extension activities related to its expertise that can ultimately improve people’s well-being. ASI’s Agricultural Systems Extension and Entrepreneurship (AgExtEnt) program aims to institutionalize agricultural systems approach to agricultural extension and entrepreneurship.

One of its component programs is the conduct of “Learning from the Masters” seminar series. This activity opens up an opportunity for the wisdom and ideas of the “Masters”, specifically their “not-in-the-book” lessons and experiences, to be shared to the public, particularly the younger generations. The seminar series may not necessarily be a “passing-the-torch” event, but a “touching-of-the-heart” or “direction-leading” experience. It deals with various topics related in agriculture and related multi-disciplinary fields that can nurture learnings of students, staff and faculty,  researchers,  extension personnel, farmers and other government as well as private sector representatives.
