The ASI is organized into:

 

  • Division of Soil Science or DSS  addresses the many important roles of soil through teaching, research and extension programs. It aims to expand, integrate, and extend the knowledge of soil ecosystems in food, feed and fiber production and the creation of a living landscape at different agro-ecosystems for the enhancement of environmental quality.

  • Division of Agricultural Systems Studies or DASS  adheres to systems approaches in studying, designing and evaluating complex agricultural systems, and in developing appropriate solutions for sustainable farming based on deep understanding of the socio-cultural, technological, environmental , economic and policy-institutional aspects of agricultural systems.  DASS seeks innovative ways to efficiently use natural resources in a socially-responsible manner for the well-being of boththe  people and the environment.

  • Division of Agricultural Extension and Rural Studies or DAERS  looks into the dynamics of the various stakeholders of the agricultural and rural sector. It focuses on the concerns of rural communities and the concerted efforts of various agencies and institutions to improve their quality of life.
